Abbas Shirmohammadi was born in the historic city of Yazd, Iran, a place known for its rich cultural heritage and architectural beauty. Yazd’s timeless charm and deep sense of tradition are reflected in Abbas’s approach to photography, where each image is crafted with a profound respect for the art’s roots. Coming from a family of photographers, Abbas is the fourth generation to carry on this esteemed legacy, a tradition that began with his great-grandfather.

From an early age, Abbas was captivated by the world of photography. His childhood was filled with the sounds of camera shutters and the sight of developing images in the darkroom, where he first experienced the magic of bringing moments to life. These early experiences instilled in him a deep appreciation for the power of photography to tell stories, preserve memories, and capture the essence of time.

As he grew older, Abbas’s passion for photography only deepened. He learned the intricacies of the craft under the guidance of his father and grandfather, mastering the technical skills required to excel in both panoramic and portrait photography. However, it was his unique vision and creative approach that set him apart. Abbas believes that every photograph should not only document a moment but also evoke emotion and convey a narrative.


In 1985, Abbas founded Panoramic Visions Photography in Washington, D.C., where he brought his talents to an international stage. His work quickly gained recognition for its precision, artistry, and attention to detail. Over the years, Abbas has had the honor of working with some of the most prestigious institutions in the world, including the White House, United States Senate and Congress, NATO, and the World Bank-IMF. His photography has been an integral part of countless significant events, capturing everything from the grandeur of international conventions to the intimacy of personal milestones.


Despite his many accolades and the high-profile nature of his work, Abbas remains deeply committed to his clients and his craft. He approaches every project with the same passion and dedication that he had as a young boy in Yazd, holding a camera for the first time. For Abbas, photography is not just a profession; it is a lifelong journey, a way of seeing and experiencing the world.
